I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness
Austin, TX's I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness formed in 2001 as a new project between Windsor For The Derby's Christian Goyer, guitarist Ernest Salaz of Glorium, bassist Edward Robert of Paul Newman/Cyrus Rego, and drummer Tim White. The band soon hit upon a mix of melody and dark atmosphere which garnered a great deal of attention in its hometown. They found themselves not only becoming the up-and-coming band in town, but also almost immediately aquired slots opening for some of their own personal heroes, Wire and The Fall.
I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness released a well-received EP on Emperor Jones Records [American Analog Set, To Roccoco Rot, Roky Erickson, Mountain Goats]. After its release in 2003, the band enlisted fellow Austinite Daniel Del Favero on guitar, stripped themselves of any remaining indie-rock leanings, and stepped back to its original intentions; a dark brooding and somewhat goth-tinged rock band, experimenting with harmonies and a wider vocabulary of sound.
